Measuring 155 x 77 x 8.9mm, the Infinix Hot Note X551 is a bit bigger than its two predecessors, the Infinix Zero and Infinix Hot. And that’s actually why it’s called a phablet. So, if you’re a stickler for mega-sized phones, you’ll love this device.

One aspect in which Infinix has never failed to impress is design. Even though their devices fall under the low-end category, they match many high-end devices in terms of looks, as they appear classy and premium.

The front surface is mostly taken up by the massive display, above which lies the slit for the in-call speaker with the Infinix logo below it. Under the screen lie the three capacitive control buttons. Both the volume control and power buttons lie on the right side of the device.

The back surface of the device is mostly bare, but for the camera and its flash lying at the upper left corner and the media speaker at the lower end.

Display

The Infinix Hot Note X551 sports a 5.5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and pixel density of 267 ppi. Though some may argue that the display is a bit mediocre, only close observation will make the pixels visible to the eyes. Picture quality is superb, and viewing angles are fine. What more do you want from a low-end phablet?

Performance

The Infinix Hot Note X551 runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat and is powered by a 1.4Ghz octa-core processor comprising a MediaTEK MT6592 chipset and Mali-450 GPU. The device uses 1GB of RAM with 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded with by additional 32GB with a microSD card.

Camera

As one would expect, the device flaunts two cameras: and 8MP primary camera with LED flash and a 2MP front-facer. So, if you love taking shots in the dark, you’re covered. And if you enjoy taking selfies too often, you’re covered as well.

Battery

Now, this is where the Infinix Hot Note X551 beats them all. Under its hood lies a 4,000mAh battery that promises to deliver 21 hours of talk time and 600 hours standby time. Even with heavy use, this battery will last you a full day or even beyond.
